Local Wendy’s among those possibly hacked
MILFORD – Several New Hampshire Wendy’s restaurants, including the one in Milford, are on the list of the franchises that were hacked, according to the fast-food company.
More than 1,000 of the chain’s 5,700 restaurants were targeted by data thieves nationwide, with an unspecified number of debit and credit card users affected. Malware, or malicious software, was installed at the locations for the point-of-sale systems, according to reports.
Local restaurants affected by the hack include the Whitney Street site in Merrimack and the Elm Street location in Milford between Jan. 13 and June 8 and four restaurants in Nashua – 46 East Hollis St., 141 Daniel Webster Highway, 631 Amherst St. and 14 Gusabel Ave – between Dec. 2 and June 8.
Wendy’s has urged customers to check bank accounts associated with debit and credit cards that were used for purchases.
