School bus contact awarded

WILTON – The Cooperative School District has awarded a three-year transportation contract to Steve’s Bus Service of Lyndeborough, after agreeing to waive a requirement for a performance bond.

Company owner Steve Brown said he had never posted one, nor had his predecessor, Draper Transportation. The board agreed. Brown has held the contract for 22 years.

The regular meeting of the board was held on Tuesday, June 12, at the middle/high school.

The board also approved a contract with Champion Paving of Salem to repair the main parking lot at the middle/high school. If a culvert behind the gym needs to be replaced, that work will be done by the grounds staff prior to the paving. Cost of the work was estimated at $19,500.

The Strategic Planning Committee is looking at options to upgrades to the food service, both in the menu and the question of eliminating Styrofoam and other disposable, non-biodegradable products.

The next meeting of the board will be on Aug. 14.
