“Resiliance: the Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope,” to be shown

Researchers have recently discovered a biological  syndrome caused by abuse, neglect, and other adverse childhood  experiences (ACEs) during childhood.  Toxic stress can trigger hormones that wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children, putting them at a greater risk for disease, homelessness, prison and early death. While the broader impacts of poverty worsen  the risk, no segment of society is immune. Trailblazers in pediatrics, education, and social welfare are using cutting edge science and field tested therapies to protect children from the insidious effects of toxic stress.

Showings for the movie, “Resiliance: the Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope,” will be held on Tuesday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Milford United Methodist Church, 327 N. River Road, Milford, and again on Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at the Brookline Fire Department, 4 Bond Street, Brookline.
