Milford, N.H. (June 14, 2019) –  Alene Candles, LLC  awarded Milford High School graduating senior Keon Jackson with a $500 scholarship during a presentation at Milford High School on June 4. For the past eight years, Alene Candles has awarded a Milford High School graduating senior with a scholarship to support the pursuit of higher education. Jackson’s mother, Saicha Pacheco, has worked at Alene Candles for five years as a Production Lead.

“Awarding a scholarship to a Milford High School senior with plans to study manufacturing or science allows us to help the next generation of engineers and scientists grow,” said Rod Harl, President, Alene Candles. “This year, we’re pleased to award Keon Jackson with a scholarship. His mother has made countless contributions to the organization; we know that Keon will do the same in the future, wherever his path may lead.”

Jackson’s application immediately stood out: he wrote about his desire to work hard so he can make his mother proud and fulfill her dream that he graduate from college. He credits playing basketball with teaching him how to be part of a team and work toward a goal. Jackson also volunteers at a local soup kitchen to give back to his community. He plans to study Network Engineering at Nashua Community College starting this fall.

“I’m grateful that my son was chosen to receive the scholarship from Alene Candles,” said Saicha Pacheco, Jackson’s mother. “Keon has already made me proud. I can’t wait to see what he will accomplish in college and what his future holds.”

Alene Candles received more than 80 applications from Milford High School seniors. Applicants were evaluated based on their GPA, plans to study manufacturing or science in college, connections to Alene, availability of other financial aid, and short essays.
