Operation Delta Dog launches Unleash the Match

HOLLIS – Operation Delta Dog recently announced its Unleash the Match campaign, a $50,000 matching gift opportunity provided by an anonymous supporter.

Every donation made to OPDD through June 20 will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000, directly funding the organization’s new Care and Boarding Center.

The Care and Boarding Center will be a transformative expansion for OPDD, adding 15 additional kennel spaces, enabling the rescue and care of up to 60 additional shelter dogs each year and dramatically shortening the wait for veterans who need a service companion.

OPDD is currently receiving an average of two calls per week from veterans in New Hampshire and Massachusetts seeking assistance. Despite operating at full capacity, the organization is unable to keep pace with the growing demand. Today, veterans who apply for a service companion from OPDD may wait up to a year to be matched.

“By the time a veteran reaches out to us with that first call, they are at a breaking point, often on the brink of a devastating decision,” said an OPDD spokesperson. “The longer they wait, the higher the risk to their safety and wellbeing. We need to respond with immediate assistance, and this new Center makes that possible.”

The expanded facility will deliver immediate, measurable impact including:

-Enabling the placement of service companions with an estimated 30 additional veterans annually

-Reducing veteran waiting periods

-Rescuing and caring for an more than 15 additional shelter dogs

-Supporting OPDD’s annual goal of matching more than 75 veterans in New Hampshire and Massachusetts with service companions

-Contributing to the ongoing reduction of the veteran suicide rate across OPDD’s service areas

By increasing the number of shelter dogs that can move through foundational training, in tandem with OPDD’s new Training and Enrichment Center, more dogs will be ready to start their journey with waiting veterans experiencing debilitating trauma-related symptoms sooner.
