Merrimack Cemetery Adventure

Are you up for an adventure back in time? If you are intrigued by colonial cemeteries and would like to learn about maintaining the markers, you are welcome to join us. Currently, 4,000 burial grounds have been identified in NH!

Richard Maloon, who is president of the NH Old Graveyard Association or NHOGA, is coming to Merrimack on Saturday, June 29th  to conduct a workshop on the repair and cleaning of old grave stones. The Merrimack   Historical Society is hosting the free cemetery preservation workshop at the Turkey Hill Cemetery located at the intersection of Turkey Hill Rd. and Meeting House Rd. These workshops are provided by the NH Old Graveyard Association (NHOGA)  workshop presenter, Richard Maloon who cautions that he and the group are all amateurs and by no means should be considered professionals.

There is no charge for the workshop, but it’s goal is to teach others how to do this correctly. If you will be attending, the time for the workshop is 9:45 AM on June 29th. All of the cleaning supplies will be furnished by the historical society, but it is recommended that you bring bug spray and a water bottle. Additionally, you may want to bring a pair of work gloves.
