Merrimack’s Historical Scavenger Hunt

As a part of the town’s 275th anniversary, a scavenger hunt takes you on a trip around town from 1655 through the 1800’s. There are 12 stops on the hunt beginning at the parking lot at Anheuser Busch and ending at Rev. Jacob Burnap’s gravesite. To begin the hunt, go to the website: Merrimack.org/275th to get the sheet you will use to follow the trip and record your stops. At each stop you will find a box containing papers describing where you are and providing a sticker to put on your sheet. When you are done, return the sheet to the white mailbox at the Library. The hunt will continue through the 275th celebration ending in October, after which there will be a lottery of those who have turned in the sheets for prizes.

Plenty of other things going on for the 275th, which kicked off with proclamations, awarding of the Boston Post Cane and the “first baby”. There is a display of the District Schoolhouses at the Town Hall, which will be updated each month. The Pennacook Indians with Chief Passaconaway will be the second display in May. There will be a 2.75k race, Library programs, cookbook, commemorative license plates and many other events and memorabilia as we go on. The Historical Society has Volume II of Merrimack’s History for sale.
