CLM announces Unique Fundraiser: ‘Be Your Own Beautiful’

Creating a beauty industry and wellness event to benefit mental health services may seem far fetched to some, however, this unique idea is building momentum in New Hampshire. The connection, is the link between appearance, positive self-image, and self-confidence. “How we feel about ourselves influences how we view the world and our place in it. When our perception of self-image is low, it’s easy to allow ourselves to fall into a downward spiral and feel bad about our lives and what we feel we can confidently contribute,” explained Jennifer Lesieur, M.S., LCMHC, Director of Quality Improvement, CLM.

“Not everyone can look like a super model and be wrinkle free at 50 years young. We can embrace where we are in our life journey and be the best person we can be. By focusing on what we can do gives us back some of the control we lost through-out the pandemic. This event shines a spotlight into the connection between how we look and how we feel about ourselves and others. This is an opportunity to safely be together and do something to help those in need,” explained the event’s producer, Melissa Ballard Sullivan, Director of Philanthropy, CLM.

The show title is “Be Your Own Beautiful” and it is designed as a showcase for cosmetologists, hair stylists, make-up artists and skin care professionals. “The event is all about accepting individual beauty-looking your best where ever you are in your life’s journey,” explained Sullivan.

The NE Cosmetic and Hair event will be held on Sunday, May 1 from 11 am to 1 pm at LaBelle Winery in Derry, NH. Industry professionals and students will have the opportunity to participate in a friendly cosmetic and hair competition which will be judged live. Prizes for the top winners in each category will be awarded. The event also features A Skin Care Challenge with entries that are pre-recorded and judged. The challenge goal is to find the best skin care routine that the average person can do in 10 minutes to maintain skin’s healthy aging and the winning entry will demonstrate their technique live on stage.
