MERRIMACK – Chop Shop 166, Merrimack High School’s FIRST Robotics Competition team hosted its third annual Cars, Robots, and Coffee event on Aug. 30.

The event blends a car show with a FIRST robotics demonstration.

“I was really happy to see the growth of the event this year,” said Layth Juma, a mentor and the lead organizer of the event. “We had the most show cars we’ve ever had and had a great diverse group of people and cars. It’s awesome to engage in multiple communities and bring this event to our community.”

This year, more than 100 different vehicles and 400 spectators showed up. There were a variety of vehicles on display, including a Ford Model T, Chevrolet Corvettes and multiple McLarens.

“This year at Cars, Robots, and Coffee, the robotics demo was busy. Six teams from across New Hampshire and Vermont gathered to show their love for STEM and robotics,” said Abbott, Chop Shop’s captain. “The spectators loved seeing robots, and asked questions about what we do as a team and about how our robot functions.”

Chop Shop was joined by Team 131 CHAOS of Manchester, Team 151 The Tough Techs of Nashua, Team 1073 The Force Team of Hollis-Brookline, Team 6324 The Blue Devils of Salem and Team 95 The Grasshoppers of White River Junction, Vt.
