Edmund A. Sullivan Jr.

Edmund A. Sullivan Jr., 87, of Merrimack, NH passed away Friday Feb. 5, 2016 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

He was born in Medford, MA on Dec. 17, 1928 to the late Edmund A. Sullivan Sr. and Mary (Burns) Sullivan. He is pre-deceased by two sisters, Kathleen Sullivan, and Martha Sobus.

Ed entered military service and fought for his country in the Korean War. After an honorable discharge he obtained his bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University and worked at Boston Edison as a reliability engineer for over 40 years. At work, he was active in their softball league and was known as a great third baseman and having a uniquely powerful right handed swing. After retiring he and his wife enjoyed many active years golfing in Spring Hill FL.

Ed’s belief in the Catholic faith guided him throughout his life. He attended Mass regularly and always sought to live by core principles – "fighting the good fight of faith". He was a leader to his family and always seemed to have a humorous joke or phrase for any occasion. His loving example of caring and giving has impacted many generations.

He is survived by his devoted wife Laura (Magno) Sullivan, two sons and daughters in-law, Edmund "Dan" Sullivan and his wife Jane, and David J. Sullivan and his wife Christina, all of Merrimack. He is the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah, Allison, Justin, Cara, Grace, Faith, and Riley, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were held in the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH Thursday morning Feb. 11, 2016 from 8:30-10 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd, Bedford, NH 03110 Thursday at 11 AM. Burial followed in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Hudson, NH.
