Albert Louis Dumond

Albert Louis Dumond, 77, of Merrimack, NH, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born on February 16, 1939, in Lawrence, MA and was the son of the late Arthur and Claire (Demers) Dumond.

Albert was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA. Upon graduation, Albert enlisted in the U.S. Army. After successful completion of the Medical Laboratory Procedures Basic Course, Albert was assigned to the Laboratory Section, 9th Medical Dispensary, in Aschaffenburg, Germany, where he served from September 1958 to February 1962. In February 1962, SP5 Albert Dumond received a Certificate of Achievement for outstanding service from the U.S. Army.

Al earned his bachelor of business administration from Rivier College in 1983. He was employed at St. Joseph Hospital as Laboratory Manager for 25 years. He entered the opticianry program in 1993 and received his associate in opticianry from NE Technical College in May of 1995. He worked as an optician, until his retirement in 2004.

He enjoyed his years as a softball umpire, watching "Jeopardy," listening to classical music, reading, fishing and watching westerns on TV.

He was a communicant at St. John Neumann’s Church in Merrimack.

Of all his loves, his greatest was always his family. He was happiest when surrounded by the children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Christine Nawrocki; her children, Amy Kershaw and Husband Newton, Matthew Nawrocki, Laura Federspiel and husband Luke; and his children Danielle Ouellette and husband Paul, Brian Leddon and wife Katie, and Jeffrey Dumond. His grandchildren include Ava Kershaw, Newton Kershaw V, Liam Federspiel, Sam Ouellette, Paige Ouellette, Stephanie (Leddon) Jones and husband Christopher, Ethan Dumond, Caitlin Dumond, and Kelsie Dumond. Surviving siblings include sister Carmen Barous and husband Frank; and brother Paul Dumond and wife Gail.

Visiting hours were held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St. Nashua. The family invites you to meet at the church for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 12 noon at St. John Neumann Church, 708 Milford Rd. Merrimack, NH. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Al’s name to St. John Neumann Church, 708 Milford Rd. Merrimack, NH 03054.
