Joseph E. Tanguay, 81, of Merrimack, NH died Sunday June 5, 2016 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA after a period of declining health.

He was born in Lowell, MA on Jan. 31, 1935 a son of the late Joseph I. and Laura Ryan Tanguay.

He attended Lowell schools and was a veteran of US Marine Corps serving during the Korean Conflict.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a meat cutter at Hanscom A.F.B. in Bedford, MA.

The family would also like to thank the Mill City Medical in Lowell, MA and Home Health & Hospice in Merrimack for all the loving care given to Joe these last few months.

In addition to his parents, he is also pre-deceased by three brothers and three sisters, Alfred, Leo, and Raymond Tanguay, and Laura Fiorello, Rita Moreau, and Blanche Bourdeleau.

Members of his family include his wife, Ann (Harrison) Tanguay of Merrimack, a daughter Debora Tanguay and her fiancée Christopher Leroux of New Bedford, MA; two step daughters, Ellen Valade and her husband David; and Linda Trombly and her husband Matthew; two grandchildren Andrew and Cory Collins, and three step-grandchildren Thomas Trombly and his fiancée Beckie Wright, and Marissa Trombly and Christopher Valade; two brothers Paul and Arthur Tanguay, and a sister Jeanette Lavoie; brothers-in-law, Richard Harrison and his wife Monique, and George Harrison and his wife Joan; sisters-in-law, Aline Cameron and her husband James, and Doreen Tanguay; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and some very good friends in Lowell and the Camp Sargent Rd Co-op in Merrimack. He also leaves his furry friends, Bridget, Dunkin, Jacob, Toby, Tessy, Biscuit, Shelby and Vivian.

Calling hours will be in the Rivet Funeral Home & Crematorium , 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH Friday June 10, 2016 from 1 – 3 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home at 3 PM.
