Sherry K. Kalish

Seabrook, NH – Sherry Kalish, a long time New Hampshire resident and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, died on Thursday the 30th of June on her 60th birthday, surrounded by family at her home in Seabrook after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born in 1956 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of the late William Richard and LaVonne Barbara (Vanourney) Bird. Sherry served her country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years after graduating from Regis High School in Cedar Rapids. She left the Navy in 1979 to start a family.

Sherry was a teacher of hairdressing for many years before working for the town of Merrimack, NH Parks and Recreation Department. She was committed to serving the town, working on Naticook Summer Day Camp and many sports and outdoors programs for the families in Merrimack. She worked hard, starting out as a secretary and progressing to become the Director of the entire department before retiring in 2013.

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, enjoyed cooking, running, going to the beach, and always had a positive energy that could light up the room.

She is survived by her husband, Chester Kalish, her two sons, Kevin Kalish and his wife Gretchen, Matthew Kalish and his wife Ashley, three grandchildren, Summer, Savannah and CJ, three siblings, Penny Meier, Myra Ray, David Bird all of Cedar Rapids, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
