Apportionment is a complex issue in Hollis and Brookline

To the Editor:

Apportionment is too important and complex an issue to be decided emotionally.

At the Cooperative School District meeting, we were presented with figures based on 100 percent average daily membership (ADM) and 50 percent ADM and 50 percent equalized valuation.

In reality, there are many other formulas that can be utilized. Also, the formula applied to capital expenses doe not have to be the same as that applied to operating expenses. There is a lot to consider.

We need a committee made up of residents from both Hollis and Brookline to study this issue and present a proposal that is workable for all. Voters can then make an informed decision based on all of the facts.
