Thank you from Hollis Strawberry Festival

Thank you from Hollis Strawberry Festival

To the Editor:

The Hollis Town Band and the Hollis Woman’s Club’s 68th Hollis Strawberry Festival on Sunday, June 22, experienced a record crowd thanks to all the wonderful press we received in the local newspapers. For the first time in 10 years, we sold out of all varieties of desserts.

I would like to thank our business community for the donations and certificates to underwrite the cost of the festivals.

In particular, I would like to thank our corporate donors: Nina Hackel of Dream Kitchens, Doug Orde of Hollis Landscaping Material, Dr. Harvey Weener of Landmark Dental Care and George Goodwin of O’Reilly’s Auto Parts.

I would like to thank all business-level sponsors: Applebee’s, Bark Easy, Beckonings, Bertucci’s, Burtons Grill, Cardin Jewelers, Chiang Mai, Cinemagic, Cook & Cook Real Estate, Dave’s Dry Cleaning, Day Glyn Kennels, Eastabrook Bar & Grill, Giorgio’s, Hannaford Supermarkets, Harvest Market, Helfman, Lasky & Associates, Hollis Auto Service, Hollis Chiropractic Center, Hollis Hair & Beyond, Hollis Pharmacy, Hollis Veterinary Hospital, Hollis Village Pet Shop, Inns & Spa at Mills Falls, Edward Klopfer DDS, LaBelle Winery, LaPeer Body Therapy, Lara’s Theme Jewelry, Lyford Dentistry, Kat McGhee, Mile Away Restaurant, Morin’s Landscaping, Nashua Car Wash, Pats Peak, Puritan Press, Reflexology for the Sole, Sky Dive Pepperell, Tulley BMW, Udelsman Associates, Verde Organically Gorgeous Salon and Zorvino Vineyard.

Without the support of our business community, we would not be able to underwrite the cost of the strawberry and the apple festivals.

Thank you to Frank and Eleanor Whitmore of Brookdale Fruit Farm and David Orde of Lull Farm for the delicious strawberries. The strawberries were the best ever. Thank you to Bill, Rosemary and Phil Graves of Doc Davis Ice Cream, especially for the extra three 3-gallon containers of vanilla ice cream when we ran out!

Of course, the festival would not be complete without the Hollis Town Band, which practices for months to present its free concert to all festival attendees. Thank you!

I sincerely thank my fellow Hollis Woman’s Club members who have been planning for this festival since January. Kudos to the subcommittee chairs, the committee volunteers, the bakers, the hullers, the workers on the day of the festivals. Without all of you, the festival just wouldn’t happen.

I especially want to thank each and every patron who came to participate in this small hometown festival that celebrates Hollis agricultural heritage and to enjoy the concert and a strawberry dessert.
