Thanks for support of Ricard memorial tournament

To the Editor:

The second annual Cam Ricard Memorial Pond Hockey Tournament, which was held in Brookline on Jan. 10, was an absolute success, with over 25 teams coming out to support the Cam Ricard Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Overall, the tournament was able to raise over $1,800 to go toward a scholarship for a Hollis Brookline High School senior.

The event would not have been possible without the help of several key people. Nate Russell, Brian Thibodeau and I would like to thank Tad Putney, who operates the Brookline Rink and was generous enough to resurface the ice and allow us the use for the day; Bob Ricard for his unending support and help with organization; and the countless number of volunteers who came out to help on the day of the tournament, along with the players of all ages who came out to remember Cam Ricard.

This event would not be possible without the unwavering support of the Hollis Brookline community, and the community spirit certainly showed when hundreds of people came out to support this great cause.

We look forward to next year’s tournament, and hope that the community of Hollis and Brookline will once again come together to support the Cam Ricard Scholarship Fund.
