Hollis library trustee candidate asks for vote

To the Editor:

Don’t forget to vote on Election Day and put an X next to the name Merle Eisman Carrus on your ballot.

I am very excited about having the opportunity to be elected as a member of the Hollis Social Library Board of Trustees.

It will be nice to get elected to the position I have been filling temporarily over the past few months. It is a committee that I have looked forward to participating in for quite a while. I am passionate about reading and books.

My husband and I have lived in Hollis since 1985.

I have been a member of the Friends of the Hollis Social Library for 25 years. During that time I have held a variety of board positions.

I started the first book discussion group at the library coordinating with the
New Hampshire Humanities Council and their Book Bag program, bringing in facilitators to lead discussions about books 21 years ago.

For many years, I helped work on the yearly library book sale and most recently, I instituted the first summer adult reading program where adults could win prizes for reading books.

My children both have graduated from the Hollis school system, and during their years in the elementary and upper elementary schools, I volunteered in both those school libraries.

I believe I can help to continue to make the Hollis Library a wonderful asset to our town, a location for children, teens and adults to find education, entertainment and enlightenment.

Vote for Merle Eisman Carrus, Hollis Social Library trustee.

Merle Carrus
