Hollis trails closed during mud season

To the editor:

Mud season is here, and the trails are closed to horses and mountain bikes until they are dry and firm.

We expect the trails to be closed for up to four weeks.

The town has done this in the past few years, and it has been successful in keeping the trails from being damaged by the bikes and horses. It is also a safety issue, as many of the trails experience sinkholes due to the frost coming out.

If you have any questions, contact the Hollis Trails Committee at hollistrails@aol.com.

I would also like to remind dog walkers to remove their dogs’ waste when they poop in the middle of a trail as a courtesy to everyone.

If you have an aggressive dog, keep it leashed or keep it home.

Thank you to everyone for their cooperation.
