Thank you to the Nashua VFW for another wonderful Halloween party

Thank you from Merrimack Friars

To the Editor:

On Oct. 27, VFW Post 483 and Auxiliary hosted the 28th annual Halloween Party for the Greater Merrimack Special Needs Youth Group, aka Merrimack Friars.

A total of 65 people, which included members, parents and caregivers, were treated to an evening of fun, food and dancing.

Without a home of their own, the Nashua VFW insisted on continuing the tradition of giving our members a night to remember. They enlisted the help of the Merrimack VFW, who were generous enough to help by letting them use their hall.

The Merrimack Friars are a parent-run group for adults with disabilities. This group has one social each month, and members participate in Special Olympics of New Hampshire.

We are a nonprofit and have no city or state funding, and all funds are raised by our members and families.

This is just a small part of what the Nashua VFW does for not only our veterans, but also for our community. We cannot thank them enough for all they have done, and look forward to many more years. We wish them the very best in their quest to find a new home.

CECILE BOUCHER,
Merrimack Friars
