To the Editor:

Attention, dog owners and dog lovers! Would you like to see a nice dog park in place of the acre of tree stumps that are currently to the right of the parking lot at Wasserman Park? We plan to build one, but we need the funds to do so without using taxpayer dollars.

I am a volunteer with The Friends of the Merrimack Dog Park (www.merrimackdogpark.com), and we have raised over $25,000 so far. We can get the remaining funds if we win the 2015 “Bark For Your Park” contest by PetSafe. We’ve nominated Merrimack, and we need everyone to help us by voting online. We could win either $25,000 as a finalist or $100,00 as a grand prize winner.

The first round runs from through June 10. We can all vote for Merrimack every day on both www.petsafe.net/barkforyourpark and at facebook.com/petsafebrand. PetSafe will use population size and total number of votes to select 15 finalist communities, which will be announced around June 15, then voting starts for the final round on June 17.
