Merrimack offers air of international market
To the Editor:
Have you shopped at Merrimack’s own Farmers Market on a Wednesday afternoon yet?
The multicolored pop-up tents create an appealing air of an international market with local vendors offering the fruits of their labors.
The market is visibly and conveniently located along Daniel Webster Highway just north of our post office on the former site of Zyla’s, which has been remarkably and beautifully restored to Vault Motor Storage by owner Charlie Morgan. Thank you, Mr. Morgan.
After our challenging winter, it is exhilarating to see the great variety of local fresh-picked-the-same-day berries, vegetables and flowering plants. Vendors from nearby New Hampshire towns bring their items to us to share in the bounty. There’s maple syrup, local honey, cheeses, chocolates, jellies and jams, baked goods, gluten-free foods, local eggs and meats, local wines, oils and vinegar blends, even popped-on-the-spot caramel corn.
Many thanks to the vision of Bob McCabe on the Merrimack Agriculture Council, as well as to the generosity of Vault Motor Storage.
See you at the Farmers Market every Wednesday, 3-6 p.m., through Oct. 14.
