Vote yes on Warrant Article 2

I am writing this letter to urge you to vote “yes” on Warrant Article 2, April 11, for a new Public Works Facility and renovations to the existing building.

The current building on Turkey Hill Road is 43 years old, is inadequate for current needs from space, layout, ventilation, insulation, etc. standpoints, all of which affect employee and public safety.

The new facility and renovation of the existing building would allow vehicles to be stored and cleaned indoors which would expand their useful life by approximately 20 percent.

The final point is that approving Warrant Article 2 would have no impact on the current tax rate. There is a bond for Greens Pond that is maturing Aug. 15, 2017 and the first payment for the Public Works Facility would be due in February 2018. Interest rates are currently attractive for this type of financing.

If you haven’t been to the “Town Garage” lately, please go to www.merrimacknh.gov, click on “Public Works,” then “Highway Garage Bond Presentation” for additional info and interior photos of the current building. Thank you for your consideration.
