Bedford Bulldogs continue strong year

Tiny Mite Football

Jack Redfern, Teddy LaPointe and Jake Boughter ran well for the Bulldogs behind blocking from Beckett Maslanka, Rocco Aronson and Frankie O’Donnell and Graham Chmiliecki. Gavin McConnell, Jayden Wilson and Evan LaForge did a fantastic job stuffing up the middle for the Bulldogs D-Line. Cullen O’Donnell locked down the Bulldogs secondary. Adam Tamburello, Caleb Cleland, and Isabella Landies did a nice job shutting down the outside runs and Gabe Landies iced the game with some nice goal line tackles.

Mitey Mite Black Football

The Bulldogs battled a very tough Manchester Eagles team and came away with an 18-7 defeat. The offensive line, anchored by Logan O’Connell, Patrik Burke, Beau Dunker and Drew Redfern, helped the Bulldogs march down the field as Justin Chrias ran well. Evan Dunker and Andre Steinbrueck had big runs before Hudson Schmitt scored on a 16-yard burst. Dunker added the extra point. Alex Cotnoir, Beau Boughter and the Meisner brothers (Josh and Sam) played well on defense. Luke Tenn encored his sister Anna’s beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner with ferocious line play. James Gilbert coverage forced an interception by Chiras. Nick Spencer and Matty Ciruso blocked well, but the Bulldogs were held off the scoreboard.

Jr. Pee Wee Red Football

The Red "Steel Curtain" was ready. Ethan Kemp, Cal McAuliffe, Mason Kimball, Alex Grudinskas and Brady Champagne worked together on the defensive line. Linebackers, Aiden O’Connell, Evan Cibotti and Eric Morgan combined with a secondary including Kaeden Elmer, Jalen Kamineni and Joel Poltronieri to hold the Hurricanes scoreless. Brady Martino, JD Cote, Ronan Balistreri, Tyrece Sealey all contributed with big tackles. Alex Moore had his first touches of the season and Aiden O’Connell delivered three touchdowns on the ground, and one more on a long pass from Evan Cibotti. O’Connell also kicked two PATs. Cal McAuliffe and Brady Champagne ran well and blocked well. McAuliffe put up six points on a fourth-and-goal. Final score 34-0.

Jr. Pee Wee Dance

Great job by the JPW Dance team at Sunday’s game. Coaches Patty Viela and Dawn Proulx have been working so hard with the girls to perfect the competition dance – and the girls exceeded expectations. The featured cheerleaders of the week are Anna Brandt Stabell and Claudia Zarella.

Anna attends Riddlebrook School and is in third grade. This is her second year as a Bedford Jr. Bulldogs cheerleader. She was part of the Mitey Mites cheer team that went to exhibition at Nationals in 2015 along with Coaches Patty and Dawn. She got a feel for how exciting it is to be in the national spotlight and performed awesome.

Claudia Zarella attends Riddlebrook School and is in third Grade. This is her fourth year as a Bedford Jr. Bulldogs cheerleader. Claudia too was part of the Mitey Mites cheer team who went to Nationals to exhibition in 2015 along with Coaches Patty and Dawn.

Pee Wee Football

The Bedford Jr. Bulldogs Pee Wee football team squared off against the Malden MA Cyclones and earned a convincing win.

Hunter Fennessy got the ball rolling when he connected with Carlos Colon for a 40-yard TD bomb to make it 6-0. TJ O’Connell ran a quarterback draw for a short TD run and Alex Wafer kicked the PAT to make it 14-0. Russ Erwin blasted up the middle with a 26-yard TD run to put the Jr. Bulldogs in a 20-0 commanding lead at the half.

Hayden Austen capped the scoring on the day with a 38-yard run to make it 26-0. Evan Schmitt had a great diving catch and Cam Cilley and Owen Christopher chipped in with big runs. Cam Healey and Aiden McMonigle both had big punt returns. The offensive line rotation of Matt Vranich, Andrew Peicker, Andrew McGee, Kasey Mahoney, Joey Piacentini, Ryan Guerrette and Matt Kyle did a great job of opening up holes. The Jr. Bulldogs only let up one first down on the day, led by Parker Bromley, Seamus Balistreri, Mike Remick and Owen Hastey. Hayden Austen made a great hustle play to prevent an interception turning into a TD and with the shutout on the line, the Jr. Bulldogs held the Cyclones with a goal-line stand not letting up a single yard.
