Bedford baseball falls to Lancers in state final

Another brilliant Bedford High baseball state tournament run ended in the Division I championship game with the Bulldogs falling to Londonderry, 1-0, in a classic pitchers’ duel.

Bedford’s Trevor Anibal and the Lancers’ Nolan

Lincoln.

Anibal went all six innings for Bedford. He struck out seven and allowed only three hits.

Lincoln was just a little better, going the distance in a four-hitter, striking out four.

“Made a couple mistakes in the batter’s box,” Bedford coach Billy Chapman told The Union Leader. “Missed some signs, but other than that it just came down to one bloop hit for them. That’s what it came down to.

“We let too many good pitches go by, and we got behind in counts. We knew what was coming most of the time, we just couldn’t execute.”

Nick Douidi had a pair of hits for Bedford, which finishes at 15-7.

Michael Pratte and Jared Neikam had the others.
