HB soccer plays hard

Pelham 3, HB Cavs 2

The U9 boys opened their season in Pelham where they started fast, dominating the opening 10 minutes, before taking the lead through a great solo goal from Alex Zawadowskiy. As Pelham got a foothold, James Arthur made some great saves to keep the Cavs in the lead until just before halftime.

After a slow start to the second half from the Cavs they quickly found themselves down 3-1 before a goal out of nowhere from Alton Williams closed the game up and despite a late onslaught the Cavs were unable to find the equalizer.

Bedford 3, HB Cavs 0

The Hollis Brookline Cavaliers U10 Girls D3 soccer team kicked off its fall season with a hard-fought loss to the Bedford Bulldogs at Bedford. Under Coach Dylan Saunders, the Cavs were able to keep the game close, giving up just a single goal in the first half. The Bedford squad broke out in the second half, scoring on two well-placed kicks into the corner of the goal. The goalkeepers in each half made some outstanding saves to keep the Cavs in the game.

On offense, the girls put together several impressive runs, but weren’t able to sneak one past a solid opposing defense.

The teams looks forward to playing its first home game this weekend against Merrimack at Hardy South field.
