HB football staying focused

By HECTOR LONGO

The schedule favors the Hollis Brookline High School football team, but if the Cavaliers don’t take care of business in games like Saturday’s 2 p.m. home date with Hillsborough-Deering/Hopkinton, it won’t really matter when the playoff teams are announced.

The good news is that HB has settled in under sophomore QB Sander Wimmer while Brandon Iodice has stepped it up on both sides

of the football.

If Hollis-Brookline hits the halfway point at 3-1, you have to like the Cavs’ playoff chances since the remaining four opponents own a combined mark of 6-8.

Hollis Brookline (2-1) vs.

Hillsborough-Deering/

Hopkinton (1-2)

WHERE: At Hollis

WHEN: Saturday, 2 p.m.

LAST WEEK: Hollis Brookline 41, Merrimack Valley 28; H-D/H had a bye

LAST YEAR: Hollis Brookline 54, Hillsborough-Deering/Hopkinton 14

FYI: Who’s hotter than HB sophomore Sander Wimmer right now? The kid has 11 TD passes already.

Not bad for a youngster, who started the season as a safety.

After an opening win over West H-D/H has endured a pair of brutal beats, 41-0 to Bow and 52-0 to Windham. That’s a team that needed the bye and got it. You get the feeling that Hollis Brookline isn’t about to take the visitors lightly.
