Cavalier girls surge to top in Division II

Here’s a look at the highlights from this week’s varsity action at Hollis Brookline High School.

Girls Basketball

Hollis Brookline 60,

Kearsarge 32

Brodie Kelley (24 points, 11 rebounds) and Joanna Balsamo (22 points, 11 rebounds) both recorded double doubles to lead the Cavaliers (6-1) in the win.

Also, playing well was Elizabeth Bonnette contributing nine points and eight rebounds. Hollis Brookline heads to Manchester West on Friday.

Hollis Brookline 44,

Bow 36

Joanna Balsamo led all scorers with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Brodie Kelley had nine points and eight boards. Christina Balsamo pitched in nine points and Elizabeth Atkinson had 10 rebounds.

Wrestling

Hollis Brookline 46,

Exeter 30

The Hollis Brookline wrestling team improved to 6-1 on the season with a 46-30 win over Division I Exeter. Securing falls for the Cavs were: Cam Lapierre (152) and Owen MacMillan (182).

The Cavaliers will travel to Nashua South for the Paul Bellavance Wrestling Classic this Saturday, January 13.

Boys Basketball

Hollis Brookline 55,

Kearsarge 34

A great defensive effort from the Cavaliers (2-1) was the deciding factor on Tuesday night. Matt Simco and JB Brackett led the team with 18 and 10 points respectively.

Hollis Brookline stays home on Friday night welcoming Manchester West.

Hollis Brookline 48,

Bow 32

Matt Simco, Matt Dowling and J.B. Brackett all led a balanced offense as the Cavaliers moved to 1-1 in Division II with the easy win.

Boys Hockey

Sanborn 8,

HB-Derryfield 3

The Warriors dropped their fourth straight, late Saturday at Conway Arena, falling to 1-4 in Division III. Their goals were by freshman William Mancini and sophomores Aidan Chretien and Nick Dapolito.
