Dias, Kennedy, Cavs tracksters tune up for indoor State Meet

With the state meet looming today on Super Bowl Sunday, several area track athletes took the Sweet Oval at UNH for one final tuneup.

Hollis Brookline, Milford and Souhegan competed in the morning session.

Souhegan’s Arielle Zlotnick was the lone individual winner on the girls side, scoring in the 1500 with a 5:30.64 clocking. Hollis Brookline’s Amy Pattelena was fourth in 5:26.44.

On the boys side, Hollis Brookline’s JJ Kennedy and Joey Dias got their sprint on, going 1-2 in the 55 meter dash with each clocking in at 7.04.

The speed duo than teamed with Rob Bardani and Chase Adams to win the 4×160 in 1:19.34.

Jesse Brochu Steve Bouchard, Sack Rioux, Dan Franco, Anthony Dowd and Nick Connerty scored wins by fall for the Cardinals in their toughest Division II test of the year. Andrew Ha scored a thrilling 2-1 overtime decision, while Matt Frechette and James Murphy each battled the full six minutes and came up with Guertin wins. Troy Moscatelli had the lone Cavaliers’ pin of the night, while Seth Ponders and Owen MacMillan had wins via decision.

Sal Vella scored an unassisted, short-handed goal in the first period and that would be the lone goal of the game. HBDS improves to 7-4 with the win.
