Tomahawks off to a hot start

Aug. 28: Merrimack 2, Nashua North 1 OT
Matthew Fowler secured a pass from teammate Cameron Liddell and snuck his shot past the Titans’ goalkeeper, giving the Tomahawks a dramatic overtime victory over Nashua North.
Merrimack got their first score of the season earlier in the contest when a Titans defender accidently scored an own goal.
Mohammed Abukhalaf scored the Titans’ only goal. Thiago Ferreira also had a great game offensively, while Brett Leblanc made some excellent stops on defense.
Derek Staradub stopped seven shots for Merrimack to secure the victory, giving the Tomahawks a 1-0 record.
Sept. 1: Merrimack 1, Pinkerton 0
Devin Kachmar scored the game’s only goal on a penalty kick 25 minutes into the second half as theTomahawks improved to 2-0. Derek Staradub had five saves in net to earn the shutout.
GIRLS SOCCER
Aug. 28: Merrimack 0, Nashua North 0 OT
Neither the Titans or Tomahawks earned a victory in their first game of the season, as the two teams were held scoreless in a double overtime tie.
Brenna Field, Dena Noiseux, Kelly Eno and Lauren Dubois had solid outings for Merrimack in the contest. Goalie Keara Venne also played a big part in keeping the Titans scoreless.
