Merrimack U13B girls earn lacrosse victory

The Merrimack U13B Girls Jr. Tomahawks posted their first win of the season against the John Stark Generals of Weare, 10-1.

Merrimack struck early and often with a pair of Paige Rivet goals aided by some crisp passing by attackers Mikhaila Mendell, Riley O’Hara, Abby Letoille and Mia Mantini.

Lilly Howe played a strong all around game as she pitched a shutout in goal against the young Generals in the first half and scored her first two goals of the season as a midfielder in the second half.

The Jr. Tomahawk coaching staff select and recognize two "Spirit Jersey" winners per week based on hustle and teamwork demonstrated at biweekly practices in addition to strong game play on Sundays. The recipients after the John Stark game were Kaitlyn Gilbert and Abby Letoille.

Kaitlyn battled through and played a solid second half after sustaining an injury due to an inadvertent stick to the face. Abby Letoille, new to the sport playing in her third game, rocketed her second goal of the game into the top shelf of the net in the second half off of an 8-meter shot.
