Merrimack softball tops Bishop Guertin

BASEBALL

Alvirne 11,

Merrimack 2

After a shaky top half of the first inning May 17, the Broncos charged back to score eight runs in the bottom of the first and second innings to beat Merrimack.

Merrimack’s Tyler DeNeill tripled to open the game and Cody Pfiefer had two hits and an RBI.

For Alvirne, Kyle Kostro had two RBIs and a triple, Ed Sweeney had three hits and scored three runs, Danny McCrystal grabbed three hits and brought in two, and Pat Rauseo had two RBIs and three of the Broncos’ nine stolen bases. Hayden Callery pitched a complete game for Alvirne giving up five hits, one earned run, and striking out five.

Dover 12,

Merrimack 4

Tyler DeNeill (two hits, RBI), Nick Dutton (one hit, two RBIs), and Cody Pfeifer (one hit, RBI) played well for the Tomahawks in defeat on Monday.

SOFTBALL

Alvirne 11,

Merrimack 6

Kellie Kennedy pitched a complete game May 17, giving up six runs on five hits while striking out four and walking two for the Alvirne win.

Alvirne opened the game with six runs. The Broncos offense was led by Alexis Charbonneau (three singles, RBI), Alicia Salvalzo (two singles, RBI), and Jenna Bradish (two singles, two RBIs).

Merrimack 6,

Manchester Central 2

Dee Gonzalez went 2 for 4 with a game-winning double in the seventh to drive in Ashley Turcott (single) and Kaleigh Blades (single), spurring a five-run frame for the Tomahawks on Saturday. Olivia Kapsambelis went 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs, while Brenna Davenport was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Julia Valluzzi earned the win in the circle, scattering five hits over seven innings.

Merrimack 14,

Dover 5

Olivia Kapsambelis had a day in the box going for a perfect 3 for 3 with two doubles, two runs, and three RBIs in the Tomahawks’ win. Kaleigh Blades helped out going 3 for 4, two runs, and two RBIs and Morgan Pfiefer went 2 for 3 with one run and two RBIs, while Liz Scheurich played great defense and added a triple.

GIRLS TENNIS

Spaulding 5, Merrimack 4

The Tomahawks ended their challenging season on May 17 with a tough loss to Spaulding. Singles winners were No .4 Alyssa Petrie (8-2) and No. 6 Eliza Gustafson (9-7). The teams of No. 1 Lianna Klinger-Abby Fay (8-2) and No. 2 Kenzy Miller-Petrie (8-2) won in doubles for Merrimack.

BOYS LACROSSE

Londonderry 17, Merrimack 3

Playing well for Merrimack on Monday were Lucas Booth with two goals, Jordan Petrocelli one goal and Jay Lanigan dished out two assists.
