Man charged in Milford burglary

MILFORD – Police say a former local man now living in Warner was arraigned last week on a burglary charge.

Milford police said Maurice Tweedie, 47, of 65 Hartshorn Lane, Warner, was arraigned and held on $10,000 cash bail in connection with an April 14 residential burglary on Ponemah Hill Road.

The suspect, who police believe made entry through an unlocked door, had left the scene just prior to officers’ arrival. Investigators were able to identify the suspect from a video surveillance inside the home.

A probable cause hearing for Tweedie was scheduled for Wednesday, June 28, in Milford district court.

This isn’t the first time Tweedie has been arrested for breaking into a residence, according to police records.

In April 2016, Tweedie was accused of attempting to break into a Hollis home a month earlier by gaining access into the garage. When he allegedly tried to break into the house, a security alarm sounded, at which time he ran to his vehicle, which helped lead police to Tweedie.
