Tomahawks fall in opener
Nashua North’s Adaeze Okorie and Merrimack’s Sabrina Johnson went back and forth in an offensive showdown during Friday night’s Division I girls basketball season opener. In the end, Okorie was one point better with a game-high 21 to help the Titans pull off a 57-50 win in Nashua.
Lauren Dubois scored 10 to go along with Johnson’s 20 in a tough Tomahawks loss.
Sara Cordova scored 10 points of her own for the Titans, leaving her 234 points from 1,000 for her career, while freshman Peyton Ryan chipped in with nine, including two 3-pointers in her first varsity game.

Merrimack drops opener to Milford
Kyle Faucher (160 pounds), John Shaw (220), Matt DiGiosio (106) and Michael Pellitteri (152) recorded pins to lead Milford past Merrimack, 53-21, in the season opener for both squads.
The match of the day was at 132, which Milford’s Ryan Hamilton earned a 4-2 win over Merrimack’s Eric Theriault.
Also picking up wins on the mat for the Spartans were George Horta (9-6 decision at 182 pounds), Shane Heath (6-1 decision at 285), Ethan
Briggs (injury default at 126) and Ricky Debernardo (tech fall at 145).
The Tomahawks posted a couple pins of their own, as Mitchell McMahon won at 220 and Kent Dow was victorious at 138.
