Why should people vote for you? I am running for re-election to a third term on the co-op school board. Hollis and Brookline are rightly proud of their schools. Arguably, the care and education of our children is our most important job as adults and as a community. My goal as a school board member is to help provide a safe and nurturing place for our youth to obtain a top-notch education; to become socially responsible members of a wider community; to become good citizens; and to help in their transition to the adult world.
In my role as a school board member, I start from a position of mutual respect and trust with teachers, administrators, and staff, while being mindful of my roles of oversight and accountability. Public education for all youth is an expense well worth the sacrifice for all adult citizens. Vigorous debate on how to accomplish this in a cost-effective manner requires that we all participate constructively. We adults need to act in a manner that is in the best interest of all children.
