Rose Evelyn (Malanowski) Greenwood

Rose Evelyn Greenwood, 88, of Bedford, passed away on October 10, 2019, in Manchester, NH, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late William Raymond Greenwood, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.

Born in Clinton, IN, Rose was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Pemberton) Malanowski. She attended public schools in Terre Haute, IN. It was in Terre Haute that Rose met her loving husband, and they were married in 1952.

Before moving to Bedford in 2001, Rose and her husband resided in Massachusetts in the towns of Ipswich (8 years) and Lexington (34 years). A devoted Christian, Rose was a long-time member of Grace Chapel of Lexington and First Congregational Church of Hamilton.

Talented artistically and with impeccable attention to detail, Rose was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, crocheter, and decorator. In addition, she created beautiful crepe paper floral arrangements – a talent passed down by her Mother. Her hands were never idle, and the items she crafted filled her home with beauty.

Rose loved the simple beauties in life, and especially enjoyed watching the ever-changing beauty of the blooming flowers and trees that surrounded her home. Rose and her husband loved visiting relatives; taking car rides to take in seasonal changes; spending time at the beach; and traveling to warm climates.

In addition to her role as a homemaker, Rose found a new passion in life when she began her own business as the President, creator, designer, and manufacturer of Pennypak Products, Inc. The “Pennypak” was an innovative ankle and wrist weight system used throughout New England area hospitals for patients undergoing rehabilitation.

At the center of Rose’s life was her faith in God, and her love of family and home. Rose was a sweet, kind, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She was always willing to help, listen or lend a hand. Rose dearly loved her family, and any chance to spend time with them was important to her. She cherished time spent at family gatherings, for holidays and birthday parties. She especially enjoyed laughing and playing Scrabble games with family. Rose will be remembered for her dedication to prayer for her family members, her inner strength to persevere, her delicious and beautiful apple pies and biscotti, her homemade gifts, warm hospitality, and lovely, ever-present smile.

Rose is survived by four children: Robin Bedell and her husband Jeffrey of Harvard, MA; William R. Greenwood, Jr. of Lexington, MA; Jane Greenwood-Fiaschetti and her husband Anthony of Cumberland, ME; and Lori Alaimo of West Townsend, MA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Rebecca Bedell; Sarah Portuondo and her husband Joseph; Jacqui Heinrich; Austin Heinrich; Maxwell Heinrich; Dana Kenniston; Andrea Alaimo; and Annalise Alaimo; and one great-grandchild: Melody Portuondo.
