To the Editor:

In this time if fractious politics, it’s easy to forget what actually unites us for the common good. On October 29, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm put politics aside and join the Friends of Town of Bedford Cemeteries at the Bedford Library to present the Citizen of the Year award to John Wood of Bedford.

John and his wife, Joan, have been residents of Bedford since 1975, moving here from Massachusetts and have served our community consistently over the years. He chaired our Parks and Recreation Commission; was elected to Bedford’s Budget Committee; chaired the Manchester Salvation Army Advisory Board; was president of Bedford’s Rotary; established both the Friends of Town of Bedford Cemeteries and the Manchester Friends of Valley Cemetery; served on the Board of the Bedford public Library and served as trustee of Bedford Cemeteries.

This event is free and light refreshments will be served. Come show your appreciation for someone who has invested such initiative and energy to make Bedford and our community a better place.

The Friends of Town of Bedford Cemeteries is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to preserve and maintain our historic and artistic gravestones that are not cared for by public funds.
