Scouts thankful for donations during annual Scouting for Food program

To the Editor:

The scouts of Bedford NH Troop 414 would like to thank the citizens of Bedford for their generous donations of food items in support of Scouting for Food.

This year the town of Bedford contributed over 8,400 food items. We were able to fill the Bedford Food Pantry and still deliver two truck loads of food to the BSA Daniel Webster Council for distribution throughout the local area.

The success of this drive wouldn’t have been possible without the contributions of many members of the community.

First, we would like to thank the entire Bedford scouting community. The scouts from Boy Scout Troop 5, Cub Scout Packs 5, 511 and 114 and the Girls Scouts of Bedford all made major contributions. Thank you also to Contemporary Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep of Milford, NH, for their generous donation of a cargo van to transport the food. Thank you to Bedford High School for including raw food drive in their Real World Learning opportunities and Bedford TV for promoting the event. Finally, thank you to the Bruce Thomas family and the Bedford Presbyterian Church who allowed the use of their property to post our signs.

Together the Bedford community and the local scouting programs made a difference. Thank you.
