Bedford selects next Athletic Administrator

Bedford School District is pleased to announce the addition of Corey Parker as the next Bedford High School Athletic Administrator. Mr. Parker will begin his tenure on July 1, replacing Bill Whitmore. Mr. Whitmore is retiring after 42 years in education, culminating with his tenure as the Athletic Administrator in Bedford from 2009-2017.

Mr. Parker has been the Athletic Director at Oyster River High School in Durham since 2011. Since holding that position, Oyster River has seen growth in their athletic participation across all sport seasons and last March successfully passed and constructed a $1.5 million athletic facility.

Prior to his time at Oyster River High School, Mr. Parker worked in high school athletics in Cincinnati, Ohio for eight years. He graduated from Xavier University in Ohio with a Bachelors of Social Science Degree in 2005.

Bedford High School Principal Bill Hagen has commented ” We are pleased to have Corey Parker joining the Bedford High School community and leadership team. Mr. Parker was among more than 20 qualified applicants for the position and was the top recommendation of both the school and community interview teams. Mr. Parker is a Bedford native and is presently raising his family in town. He is already connected in the community through his activism in the youth programs. We feel that Mr. Parker’s core values align with those found in our school’s mission statement.”

Bedford Superintendent of Schools, Chip McGee added ” Mr. Hagen and the High School Team made an excellent choice when they nominated Corey Parker as the next Athletic Administrator.”

Corey Parker resides in Bedford with his wife Hannah, and their two boys, Brady, 6, and Cameron, 3.
