The Bedford 5th/6th Grade Travel Girls team defeated the Concord Boys and Girls Club 20-18 in the finals of the Manchester Suburban Basketball League this past Sunday at the Hudson Memorial school Gym to claim the Girls 5th/6th Division 2B League Title.

It was a defensive battle for three quarters until Bedford broke it open outscoring Concord 7-2 in the fourth quarter to close out the win.

It was a total team win as Bedford had eight girls in scoring column and was led by Amber Ducharme with six points and Anna Wolf with four points. Ava Dubois and Martha Lord did a great job running the offense and defending with Lord scoring a huge 18-foot basket in the fourth quarter.

Devlyn McDonald and Kristen Caldwell played solid post defense, grabbing several rebounds and each hitting a foul shot. Rebecca Mello played solid defense and did a great job getting the ball into the Bedford post players for close-range shots. Natalie Denon added three points and Miriam Ngenda scored a bucket.

Megan Muir sealed the win with a free throw with seconds remaining.

The Bedford 5/6 squad went undefeated this MSBL tourney going 4-0 and the championship marked the first victory against Concord in five games this season.
