Noiseux earns CACC honor

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Philadelphia University freshman forward and Merrimack native Dena Noiseux was selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer rookie of the week Tuesday.

In the Rams’ season opener, Noiseux scored the match-tying goal with 5:23 left in regulation to help Philadelphia secure a 2-2 draw against conference rival Holy Family on Sept. 1.

Noiseux is the women’s soccer program’s first CACC rookie of the week since Angela Ferro took home the honor on Sept. 11, 2012.

Philadelphia (0-0-1, 0-0-1 CACC) traveled to Queens (N.Y.) for a nonconference match on Wednesday.

Coffey playing well for SNHU

Southern New Hampshire University freshman and Merrimack graduate Joanne Coffey tallied 25 assists, nine digs, five kills and a pair of blocks during the Penmen’s 3-0 victory over Dominican (N.Y.) College on Saturday at the Raider Classic at Shippensburg University.

The Penmen are 1-3 on the season.

Dowling running for SNHU

Southern New Hampshire University senior and Merrimack native Felicia Dowling helped the SNHU cross country team tie for sixth at Stonehill College on Saturday.

Dowling completed the course in 21 minutes and 32 seconds, as SNHU’s fourth finisher.

Villeneuve earns MVP honors

St. Michael’s College senior and Bedford graduate Nolan Villeneuve took MVP honors at the fourth annual Catholic Cup at Saint Anselm College.

The Purple Knights picked up a 4-3 victory over Assumption College and beat Stonehill College 1-0 for the championship. It’s the program’s second Catholic Cup title in three years.

Bowen helps Worcester State to 2nd

Bedford’s Kayley Bowen finished 23rd with a time of 22 minutes and 11 seconds at the Sheehan Memorial Invitational to help Worcester State finish second as a team.

Worcester (46 points) was topped by Westfield State (25), but defeated four other schools in the six-team meet.
