Ernest A. “Ernie” Jenkins III, 63, lifelong resident of Bedford, died July 16, 2011 at Elliot Hospital. He was born August 3, 1947 in Manchester, NH, the son of Ernest A. and Barbara L. (Evarts) Jenkins Jr. He grew up and attended local schools graduating from West High School. In 1970 he graduated from Keene State College and taught for five years at Southside Elementary School, Manchester. He married Alice S. Livingstone in 1977. Ernie began a career in radio broadcasting which spanned 35 years including stations WKNE in Keene, WGIR, WOTW, WKBR and WWNH. He was a member of the old Bedford Centre Cemetery Association, collected antique radios, was a tinkerer and enjoyed photography.

His family includes his wife of 34 years, Alice; his mother, Barbara L. Jenkins, of Bedford; sister-in-law, Joyce Turner of Bedford; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut Street, corner of Harrison Street, Manchester. The Funeral service is Thursday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
