David M. Brooks

David M. Brooks, 88, of Bedford, New Hampshire, passed away December 17, 2014, after a short illness. Born April 3, 1926, in New York City, he was the son of author and playwright George Brooks and Dr. Helen (Clark) Brooks.

He moved to Bedford in the early 1990’s after spending a successful career in the printing industry in Boston.

He was a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, and was a veteran of the US Army during World War II.

David’s passions included antique cars, for which he was the proud recipient of awards for his 1932 Buick. Another interest was music. He spent many years as a member of various barbershop singing societies, and sang in numerous Gilbert and Sullivan productions, as well as other musicals.

His passion for opera took him to various opera houses throughout the US and Europe. In addition to taking lengthy daily walks, Dave was an avid skier and traveler, and loved learning about other cultures.

He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and interest for life.

Dave is survived by his sister, Helen D. Brooks, of Rochester, New York. In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his brother, Hugh.

A gathering to celebrate Dave’s life will be held in Bedford in February.
