George P. Brooks Sr.

George P. Brooks, Sr., 81, of Goffstown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at the Bel-Air Nursing Home, Goffstown.

Born in New Canaan, CT, George was the son of the late John and Mary Jane (Carter) Brooks. Raised and educated in New Canaan.

An honorably discharged veteran, George proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he managed and operated a Texaco service station and garage in Darien, CT.

After relocating to NH, he worked for Diamond International for many years, and was employed as a part time police officer for the Town of Bedford. Before retiring, he owned and operated Merrimack Building Supply Co, in Merrimack.

A beloved son, father, and grandfather, George was the pillar of strength for his family and embodied the values of hard work and dedication. As a youth, he worked on a Dairy Farm in North Conway, NH and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He found much pleasure in tending to his garden and watching his flowers and vegetables grow. A loving son, George devoted himself to caring for his mother until the end of her life. His late cat, Spooky, brought him great comfort and companionship. George will be best remembered for his hardworking hands and generous heart. His quick wit, sense of humor, and ability to tell a great story will be dearly missed.

George is survived by his son, George P. Brooks, Jr., & his wife Carolina of Wakefield, MA; his daughter, Tracey Brooks of Penacook; three grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and extended family and friends.
