To the Editor:

There are two Republicans running for the New Hampshire Executive Council District-5 seat in the upcoming primary (September 9th). After a quick check, I found that one of them, Steve Hattamer of Hollis, has donated almost $10,000 to Democrats over the past few years.

Now, Mr. Hattamer is free to donate his money to whomever he likes, but I find it disconcerting that he calls himself a Republican but chooses to donate money to Democrats, even as recently as March, 2014. The same check against his opponent shows no such contributions.

I think I’ll go with the candidate who supports members of his own party and has been consistently conservative over the years: Dave Wheeler.
