To the Editor:

I’ve known Walt Havenstein for 15 years and believe he’d be a terrific governor. Walt treats everyone with dignity and respect from senior managers to entry level workers. Despite being a tough businessman, Walt always maintained a higher purpose for what we did in business – protecting our war fighters. I was always encouraged that a business leader would tell his employees to put the war fighters first – quite contrary to the big businessman stereotype you often see from Hollywood. On the volunteer side, I had personal experience participating with Walt as he held leadership roles in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (NH), FIRST and the Marine Corps Scholarship Fund. Most importantly for this new job, Walt thinks strategically, enabling him to communicate a purpose, set realistic but tough goals, and then rally people on multiple sides of an issue to get things done for the betterment of the whole. New Hampshire will be a better place to live with Walt Havenstein as governor.
