In search of a better health care plan for Americans

To the Editor:

Maybe, just maybe, there is hope for the two sides to work together on a range of electoral responsibities. Not just health care. The two speeches by Sens. Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer were classic.

I will always wonder if John McCain hadn’t cast the heroic vote, would someone else have stepped up? I believe the answer is yes, but I love the crazy story of “Big John.” You can’t write this stuff. What a few weeks.

Lastly, and then back to sleep … how many tiny little “nobodies” in all 50 states got off their couches and became “giants” by working together to ensure that Washington heard their story and understood their gutteral fears?

What a nice night to celebrate participation, inconvenience and showing up. Democracy, seemingly out of hope, gets a chance to be reinvigorated. Eighty percent of Americans wanted a better bill and plan. The 80 percent almost lost to the few. That would have been a disaster for America.

I feel so very happy for those who “showed up.” They each and all get as much or more credit than hero Sen. John McCain.

Whew! The sun will rise today on 25 million people who still have insurance. Whew times 2.
