A special sense of gratitude

On Sept. 22, a special event took place at Lamson Farm in Mont Vernon, NH. Julia Griffith, a long term resident of the area celebrated a very special birthday, with the help of the town, neighbors, friends and family. As Julia has brain cancer, the celebration that was made possible for her was so very meaningful. “Mom,” I said, “what is something that I can do for you, what is a wish that I can help make come true?” Julia, my mother’s response, “I’d really like to have a nice birthday celebration.” This was my mother’s wish, to celebrate with her friends and family, and as Lamson Farm holds so many sentimental memories for my mom, and my family, which is why it was the most perfect place to celebrate.

Not only were past memories reminisced, such as the reception of my parents wedding, which took place at Lamson Farm back in June of 1985, and the years that my family had spent living there, as well as the times that we had gathered with the town for events such as Lamson Farm Day, kite flying and sledding, but new memories were created at this very special location. My mother had played her flute for the Farm Day in years past, and so her flute music was played at her birthday celebration as a sentimental contribution to her.

So many things were donated by many of the local residents. The town of Mont Vernon, and the people from many other surrounding towns gave my mother and my family a gift on September 22nd, 2018, which was the gift of fellowship, which presented the gift of encouragement, thus sprouting the gift of hope for my mother. Therefore, I would like to extend my personal sense of gratitude to the town of Mont Vernon, and to each and every person that participated in my mom’s special birthday celebration. The community came together and made a very special woman’s dream to have a nice birthday celebration come true. It was not just a simplistic birthday celebration, it was so much more, it was an inspiration of life, gifted my so many people. Thank you so very much, to everyone that helped make this possible!
