Thomas seeking office

My name is Wendy Thomas, and I am the Democratic candidate for Merrimack’s open New Hampshire House seat in the upcoming Special Election (April 13). Part of advocating for and representing a town is knowing how that town works – and I do more than any candidate in this race.

My husband, Marc, and I have lived in Merrimack for 30 years; we raised our 6 children here. Throughout the decades, I have been an MYA soccer and Destination Imagination coach, worked on the board for the MHS swim team, helped run the school ski programs, and been a long-time member of the social/service organization, Merrimack Friends & Families.

As a founding member of Merrimack Citizens for Clean Water, I was an early advocate for PFAS-free clean water in our town. With input from our community, I helped establish a Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) with St. Gobain and town leaders to plan ongoing corrective and protective action.

As a former State Representative for Merrimack, I drafted legislation to directly help our neighbors – creating a commission that looks at the health impact of PFAS throughout the state, setting health limits on dangerous chemicals in our water, and providing resources to support local businesses.

I am asking for your vote on Tuesday, April 13 to represent the people and values of Merrimack, so that I can continue the work I started in protecting the health and safety of our town going forward.
