Cavs come back for win

In Valley League Youth Hockey action, the Cavaliers came from behind to defeat the Groton Pee Wee team 5-4. Isaac Rogers notched two first-period goals, to give the Cavs the lead halfway into the first period but Groton was not going down quietly and scored twice at the tail end of the first to tie the game.

The second period provided end-to-end battles for the crowd, but the score remained 2-2 at the start of the third. Early in the third, Groton scored two goals in less than two minutes and it looked like it had control of the game. The Cavs goalies Nick Hall and Ben Goolsby played exceptionally well against a potent Groton team. Midway into the third period, the Cavs defensemen Nic Miller, Ruthvik Yenisetti, Joe Roth and Sean Kelly took control of the defensive zone and did an excellent job moving the puck up ice. The Cavs forwards, Damien Barahona, TJ Vitullo, Max Sears, Austin Ciszek, Chris Haley and Isaac Rogers picked up the tempo in the offensive zone. With about four minutes to go, Ciszek netted a nice goal off a feed from Sears and Yenisetti, then with two minutes to go, Rogers would complete the hat trick with a short-handed goal. With the game tied 4-4 the Cavs would continue to keep the pressure on. With less than 20 seconds remaining, TJ Vitullo won the faceoff in the Groton zone and slide the puck towards the Groton net where Damien Barahona buried the puck with just 15 seconds on the clock to provide the Cavs the win.
