BASEBALL

May 7: HB 6, Oyster River 2

Hollis Brookline scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, highlighted by Cam LaFleur’s two-run single and three Oyster River errors as the Cavaliers picked up a 6-2 win.

Shea Whalen pitched five innings of three-hit ball, striking out five to earn the win for HB (5-2). Ryan Buckley pitched the sixth and seventh to close the game out.

May 8: HB 1, Con-Val 0

Senior Cam LaFleur threw a no-hitter, leading the Cavaliers to a one-run victory over Con-Val. LaFleur was masterful over seven innings of work. He struck out 17 Con-Val batters and didn’t allow a single ball to leave in the infield.

Hugh Devlin provided all of Hollis’s offense when he belted a solo homer in the second innings.

May 9: HB 4, Hanover 0

Austin Pigott was a one-man show in Hanover, leading the team on the mound and at the plate as Hollis Brookline came away with the victory.

Pigott pitched all seven innings for the Cavaliers, allowing only two hits while striking out five. He also finished the game with three hits and two RBIs.

May 12: HB 8, Sanborn 1

The Cavaliers improved to 8-2 as Cam LaFleur (2 for 2), Shea Whalen (1 for 2) and Cam Crystal (first varsity hit) paced the offense. Tommy Grant picked up the win with one hit allowed and five strikeouts over four innings. Ryan Buckley and Hugh Devlin pitched well in relief.

BOYS LACROSSE

May 8: HB 18, Gilford 3

The Cavaliers remained unbeaten after easily topping Gilford. The victory was the third time this season that Hollis Brookline outscored an opponent by 15.

Patrick Dunn and Ryan Papineau had six goals and three assists apiece. Ryan Walsh scored three times and Zach Nardone had a pair of goals and three assists. Sam Whitaker had a goal and six assists.

Logan Blake had seven saves in goal. Trevor Cooke also saved two shots.

May 10: HB 16, Milford 10

Harrison Urda led all Spartans with seven points in the loss (five goals and two assists). Evan Wandrey and Ross Briggs also had strong games, as Wandrey recorded a hat trick and an assist, while Briggs had two goals and four assists. In net, Adam Audet made 17 saves. With the loss Milford drops to 3-6 while Hollis Brookline improves to 8-0.

May 12: HB 12, Laconia 5

Ryan Papineau had five goals and two assists while Pat Dunn added four goals and two assists as the Cavaliers improved to 9-0 in Division III. Also scoring for the Cavs: Zach Nardone one goal, two assists; Sam Whitaker one goal, two assists. Ben Lombardi, one goal. Logan Blake had to only make one save in net.

SOFTBALL

May 8: HB 5,
ConVal 4 (9 Innings)

The Cavaliers pulled off the dramatic victory in the ninth inning. Olivia Lukovits started the bottom of ninth inning with a single and later scored on Tori Sargent’s walk-off hit. Sargent finished with three hits and Kelsey Mansfield had two hits. Ashley Skey improved her season record to 4-4, pitching all nine innings. She allowed three earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out 13.

May 9: HB 11, Hanover 4

Domanique Mills went the distance for the Cavs, pitching all seven innings, striking out five, and allowing two earned runs on seven hits. At the plate, Ashley Skey went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Steph Buchanan went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI and Kelsey Mansfield was 1 for 2 with two runs scored and an RBI.

May 12: Sanborn 6, HB 2

The Cavaliers dropped to 5-5 despite the efforts of Ashley Skey, who hit two solo home runs but took the pitching loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on 12 hits. Steph Buchanan went 2 for 3 with a double and played well defensively.

GIRLS LACROSSE

May 9: Pinkerton 16, HB 3

The Lady Cavs defense was anchored by Jess Ciarcia, Gigi Eliopoulos, Alyssa Rich, Ceci Eliopoulos and goalie Maggie O’Hara who finished with 12 solid saves. Mariah Passamonte (one goal) and Regan Burns (two goals) lead the offense.

May 13: HB 17, Central 8

The Cavaliers had a big second half, including eight unanswered goals, as they topped Manchester Central.

Regan Burns led HB with four goals and an assist. Maria Passamonte added three goals while teammates Megan Sweeney and Kati Tighe each had two. Lexi Chilton, Marin Owens, Kelley Snyder, Fiona Kennedy, Holly Eisenberg, Maddie Snow and Bella Zampieri also found the back of the net. Maggie O’Hara finished with six saves.

GIRLS TENNIS

May 7: HB 8, Milford 1

Singles winners for Hollis Brookline were No. 2 Nicole Hall (8-6), No. 3 Teresa Randlett (8-1), No. 4 Lizzy Davis (8-0), No. 5 Courtney Koran (8-2) and No. 6 Audra Paradie (8-0).

The Cavaliers swept the doubles games courtesy of Lian Tumas and Hall at No. 1 (8-2), the No. 2 team of Randlett and Davis (8-4), and the No. 3 team of Koran and Paradie.

May 8: St. Thomas 5, HB 4

The Cavaliers gave it all they had against a tough St. Thomas squad but couldn’t come away with the victory. Teresa Randlett got HB their first singles win, ending Mary Diharce’s two-year unbeaten streak. Courtney Koran and Audra Paradie also had solid singles victories. HB dropped the first two doubles matches before the duo of Koran and Paradie took their match in a tiebreaker.

BOYS TENNIS

May 7: HB 6, Milford 3

Hollis Brookline utilized singles wins by No. 2 Jeremy Ide (8-1), No. 4 Will Kingsley (8-1), No. 5 Alex Cate (8-2) and No. 6 Matt Spooner (8-0) and doubles wins by No. 2 Tyler Pepin/Cate (8-4) and No. 3 Spooner/Andrew Stam (8-1) to hold off Milford.

The Spartans received wins from Gordon Shenk (8-1) at No. 1 singles, Kyle Leach (8-3) at No. 3 singles and the duo of Shenk and Leach (8-1) at first doubles.

TRACK

May 13: Boys,
girls finish third

The HB boys and girls track teams hosted Merrimack Valley and Goffstown, with both teams finishing in third. The boys scored 51 points while the girls scored just less than 71. Merrimack Valley won both meets.

Bryce Bowen (100), Christian Parenteau (1,600) and Evan Porter (100 hurdles) each earned first-place victories for the Cavaliers. The boys 4×100 relay team also finished in first. Lindsay Beauregard led the Cavs by winning the high jump and long jump. Sarah Cramton (800), Emma Newton (1,600), Ellie Caswell (300 hurdles), Amanda McDonough (shot put) and Samantha Slater (discus) had second-place finishes for HB.
